Well, speaking of inspiration...

Well, speaking of inspiration...
We drove into Sedona, AZ as the sun was beginning to set. The sun reflected off the red mountains casting an awe-inspiring and majestic view.
They say that Sedona is one of the few places on Earth with many vortexes, attracting spiritually-inclined and artsy folk. Text below is from a metaphysical website:
There are several energy centers, or vortexes of subtle energy, located in the Sedona area. (In Sedona, the energy centers are referred to as vortexes rather than vortices.)  The energy from these vortexes saturates the whole area in and around Sedona, and can be noticed in a subtle but general way anywhere around town.  If you actually go to one of the vortex sites, which is where the energy is strongest, it can be a very uplifting experience.  The energy you take in at one of these energy centers can stay with you and affect you positively for days afterwards.
I'm still waking up and hoping I can enjoy some of that projected energy.
We are here because my husband is taking classes and I am taking advantage of this get-away to write.
The resort we are staying at is remote and each casita is separated from the next by trees, so it is very secluded. The problem is that this is a place for people to walk and hike and enjoy nature. I don't do hikes. Our casita is situated high up a hill with a 45-50 degree incline. I will need to call for a golf cart just to go to lunch. Though I wouldn't exchange this spot for any other, I do not look forward to the walk, even going downward. It was necessary to hold tight to my husband to return after dinner last night.
These are the moments when I sadly recall my earlier days when my body was not MS-ridden and I could take hikes with my husband. When my legs were strong and I had the desire to enjoy the great outdoors.
But I "accept and adapt," which has become my motto. So, on this beautiful summer day in gorgeous Sedona, I will sit on my patio, surrounded by the Red Rocks and hopefully gain some energy from those vortexes to work on my new novel.

  1. Hey Lauren,

How great you're there. "I don't do hikes" either. I'd rather take it all in atop a mountain. Yes, sounds like a perfect setting for writing. Here's to all the positive energy you can get!!!!!!!!!!

    xoxo
